Después de dos décadas recorriendo talleres que mecanizan aluminio, acero, fundición, inconel o titanio, puedo decirte que los problemas más frecuentes no empiezan en las herramientas de corte ni en la máquina-herramienta. Empiezan en el tanque. Sí, en el fluido de corte. Ese que mezclas con agua y le decís refrigerante. Ese que muchos subestiman. Ese que no solo enfría, sino que **lubrica, limpia, protege**… o arruina el proceso si no lo controlás bien. Por eso, quiero contarte lo que aprendí en el campo después de tanto tiempo, y cómo lo viví en talleres reales de la industria metalmecánica.   --- ## El fluido no es un accesorio: es un sistema La mayoría pone el foco en la herramienta, la máquina o la velocidad de corte. Y está bien. Pero si la emulsión está mal preparada, es como correr una maratón con los cordones desatados. El 95% del fluido es agua. Si no tenes en cuenta la **dureza**, **pH**, **cloruros y contenido de sales en general,** estás empezando mal. | ¡Bien hecho! Se recomienda realizar una predilución afuera del reservorio o tanque de la máquina-herramienta y cargarlo en el mismo. Toda preparación debe realizarse midiendo lo que se agrega.*   --- ## Si no medís, no controlás No sabés las veces que vi fluidos que olían a cloaca, herramientas que no duraban prácticamente nada y operarios con la piel como enrojecida. Un solo bicho se convierte en **4.2 millones en 16 horas**. He visto emulsiones separadas, viscosas y con sobrenadantes, llenas de burbujas con olor a huevo podrido. Lo que sigue: corte defectuoso, acabado deficiente, herramientas desgastadas y clientes enojados. | Las bacterias se pueden reproducir a un ritmo sorprendente. **Considerá la siguiente tasa de reproducción:** | | | --- | --- | | **Tiempo transcurrido** | **Número de bacterias** | | Inicialmente | 1 bacteria | | 1 hora | 8 bacterias | | 4 horas | 4096 bacterias | | 8 horas | 16,8 millones (106) bacterias | | 10 horas | 268 millones (106) bacterias | | 16 horas | 4,2 billones (1018) bacterias |   --- ## El tramp oil: la contaminación silenciosa Aceite hidráulico, de guías de bancada, de cadenas... todo cae al tanque. ¿Y qué pasa? - Alimentás bacterias. - Rompés la emulsión. - Bajás el rendimiento del fluido. ¿La solución? **Skimmers, separadores coalescentes, filtros, aspiradoras de líquidos y limpieza programada**. Mucho más que litros de fluido: - En una planta que mecanizaba tren de aterrizaje en acero inoxidable, solo con monitoreo diario y skimmer, bajaron el consumo de fluido un 66%. - En otra, de autopartes, eliminaron irritación en la piel, bajaron el consumo en un 20% y duplicaron la vida útil del fluido. Yo vi algo parecido en una fundición de carcasas: **limpiaban el tanque cada 2 meses**, ahora cada 6. **La herramienta duraba más del doble**. Y los operarios… dejaron de putear.   --- ## Errores comunes que te sabotean X Usar agua dura sin análisis. X Agregar agua al concentrado (¡es al revés, che!). X No registrar cambios de tanque. X Dejar aceite flotante como si no pasara nada. Es una variable de control."* Manejarlo bien es tener el taller en equilibrio: productividad, calidad, herramientas que duran, ambiente limpio y menos retrabajo. | | --- |   --- ## ¿Querés mejorar tu sistema? ✔ Controlá el agua ✔ Usá refractómetro y pH todos los días. ✔ Separá tramp oil y filtrá el sistema. ✔ Usá biocidas solo cuando haga falta. ✔ **Y si querés armar un plan, escribime.** Lo he hecho en fundiciones, talleres CNC, plantas de autopartes y líneas de producción que mecanizan desde aluminio hasta acero al manganeso. ¿Te cuento una anécdota? Una vez, después de limpiar un sistema de refrigerante que olía a pescado muerto, me fui directo al club con mi nieta, Lupe.
