En esta primera entrega te contamos todo acerca del control de la contaminación en sistemas hidráulicos.    --- ## Desengrase y limpieza en procesos de mecanizado El objetivo del desengrase y limpieza es preparar una superficie para su uso posterior. Esto puede implicar simplemente eliminar suciedad para dejar un sustrato limpio (por ejemplo, eliminando el exceso de virutas de metal y aceite) o para garantizar que el sustrato sea adecuado para su posterior procesamiento (como pintura o revestimiento) o montaje. Cualquier proceso de limpieza involucrará energía, incluyendo energía química, mecánica y térmica (calor) más el tiempo dedicado al proceso. Esto se puede expresar como: Energía total aplicada ∑ Energías x Tiempo necesario Esto, lo podemos representar así | Energía **=** (energía química **+** energía mecánica **+** energía térmica) **x** tiempo | | Piezas limpias | | --- | --- | --- | **La energía química** es la capacidad del desengrasante para humectar, disolver y retirar la suciedad de la pieza. La concentración en uso del limpiador se puede variar para aumentar o disminuir la dicha energía química. **La energía mecánica** proviene del diseño de la lavadora, y esto está asociado a la potencia de las bombas, diseño de las boquillas, y en caso de tratarse de un proceso por inmersión, la misma puede ser generada por recirculación o formación de burbujas de aire. Incluso las vibraciones de alta frecuencia de la limpieza ultrasónica son un tipo de energía mecánica. **La energía térmica** proviene del calor introducido al sistema, y afecta la eficiencia química del proceso. Si los residuos son materiales viscosos, tales como lubricantes o depósitos de grasa, el calor puede disminuir la viscosidad del residuo y facilitar su eliminación. Un proceso bien diseñado cumplirá el objetivo de limpiar las piezas de manera económica, evitando tanto el exceso de pérdida de tiempo, como así también las distintas energías involucradas en dicho proceso. **Tipos de desengrasantes** Los desengrasantes deben estar diseñados para trabajar con los diversos tipos de materiales de manera de ser apropiados para la composición de las piezas. En el proceso de desengrase o limpieza industrial, la mayoría de las piezas son metálicas, aunque algunas pueden ser cerámicas u otros materiales no metálicos. Cortesía de Durr Ecoclean.* | | --- | Los desengrasantes base solvente han perdido relevancia en las fábricas más modernas debido a preocupaciones medioambientales. Los disolventes halógenos clorados se usaban comúnmente en el pasado para desengrasar en fase vapor, pero ahora, mayormente se han abandonado. Eran eficaces y no se quemaban, pero están prácticamente prohibidos debido a las características de daño a la capa de ozono.     Los solventes en base a hidrocarburos no halogenados todavía están en uso, pero contribuyen a los gases VOC formados durante la evaporación. Además, al ser inflamables, generan alarmas sobre los puntos de inflamación. Si se manejan adecuadamente, los desengrasantes base solventes de hidrocarburos se pueden reciclar por destilación, a menudo con diseños de lavadoras de alta tecnología (*figura 2*). En otros casos, se utilizan éste tipo de productos para desengrasar equipos de mantenimiento o piezas de producción en pequeña escala. destilación. *Courtesía de Durr Ecoclean.*   Desengrasantes en fase acuosa En general, la mayoría de los desengrasantes acuosos se basan en un pH superior a 7, es decir, alcalinos, pero algunos limpiadores para aplicaciones especiales son levemente ácidos para ayudar a eliminar las manchas y la oxidación. Los limpiadores ácidos más comunes son ácido fosfórico y el ácido cítrico (limpiadores naranja). Castrol no comercializa limpiadores ácidos. Los limpiadores para emulsiones o bateas de[máquinas](https://ingenierialiquida.castrolargentina.com.ar/castrol/los-10-fundamentos-para-la-gestión-del-mantenimiento-de-maquinaria-industrial) son el tercer tipo de limpiadores acuosos, que son a base de una  emulsión que contiene un aceite similar al utilizado en los refrigerantes de mecanizado. Pueden ser efectivos para remover suciedades aceitosas y dejarán una ligera capa de aceite para proporcionar una barrera para la protección contra la oxidación. Para tener un punto de referencia para comprender el valor de pH, podemos revisar la escala de pH en la *figura 3*. Cualquier material por debajo de pH 7 se considera ácido y los valores de pH por encima de 7 se consideran alcalinos (también conocidos como básicos). Un pH de 7 se considera neutro.   Las lavadoras industriales generalmente se dividen en dos categorías: lavadoras por spray y lavadoras de inmersión. (A continuación, se detalla el diseño del equipo). Como tal, los desengrasantes alcalinos están diseñados para ser efectivos en el diseño específico de la lavadora. Las principales diferencias entre los limpiadores en spray y los de inmersión son: - Los limpiadores por spray o rociado están diseñados para tener baja espuma, a menudo junto con características de rechazo de aceite. El rechazo de aceite mejora la efectividad de los dispositivos de separación de aceite. - Los desengrasantes por inmersión tienen la capacidad de levantar y absorber suciedad; Además, cuando los desengrasantes por inmersión se mejoran con ultrasonido, éstos permitirán que se formen microburbujas para soportar las características de elevación del residuo. La química de los desengrasantes por inmersión es más probable que genere espuma. Por lo general, es para lavadoras de tipo inmersión. Funciona muy bien en suciedades muy difíciles tales como: - Compuestos pigmentados. - Grasas. El ácido fosfórico y el ácido cítrico son los más comunes (conocidos como limpiadores naranjas). | Potencialmente, todos los tipos de sistemas pueden usar limpiadores alcalinos. La concentración puede variar según las necesidades de limpieza. Alcalinidad (pH\>7) provee: - Protección a la corrosión. - Rendimiento. - Bio-resistencia. Posee en su formulación: surfactantes/detergentes/ jabones - Humectación (reduce la tensión superficial). - Solubilización/suspensión de suciedad. - Quelación (secuestras los iones metálicos). | Las emulsiones de aceites solubles en agua pueden variar en concentración dependiendo de los requisitos. - Emulsiona la suciedad y las lleva hacia los filtros. - Muy buena protección contra la oxidación debido a la película de aceite. - Eliminación de suciedad ligera a medida. Puede existir crecimiento de bacterias si la formulación no es robusta. | *Figura 4. Características de los limpiadores acuosos.*   Elección del tipo de desengrasante adecuado Independientemente del tipo de lavadora en la que se utilizará el desengrasante, una consideración importante para una limpieza satisfactoria es elegir un desengrasante cuya química sea adecuada para las necesidades de limpieza. Las aleaciones a base de aluminio y cobre son particularmente sensibles a las manchas, por lo que se seleccionarán limpiadores con inhibidores para dichos materiales y componentes más suaves y / o un pH más neutro para evitar manchas y daños en dichos materiales. Otra consideración con las aleaciones ferrosas es la necesidad de proporcionar protección contra la oxidación para evitar que las piezas comiencen a oxidarse de inmediato. Por lo tanto, al seleccionar un desengrasante, revise cuidadosamente las características del producto para confirmar qué materiales son seguros para que el producto propuesto remueva la suciedad. Los desengrasantes Castrol proporcionan protección contra la oxidación en el proceso a corto plazo hasta que la pieza esté seca y protegida para requisitos a más largo plazo. La información clave que ayuda a elegir el limpiador adecuado incluye: •    Preferencia de tipo de limpiador del cliente. •    Metalurgia la pieza. •    Suciedad a ser removida. •    Tipo de lavadora. •    Protección necesaria contra la corrosión. •    Temperatura del baño. •    Equipos de filtración y acondicionamiento (es decir, skimmers) en uso. •    Tipo y calidad del agua. •    Operaciones previas y posteriores.   Tipos de suciedad En un entorno de desengrase industrial, la suciedad a remover generalmente consiste en una o más de las siguientes: •    Chips y virutas. •    Aceites (lubricantes, aceites de corte, aceites de conformado). •    Fluidos de corte emulsionables – es decir, refrigerantes (sintéticos, semisintéticos, aceite soluble). •    Grasas. •    Preventivos contra la corrosión. •    Corrosión superficial. Los aspectos comerciales llevan al cliente a equilibrar la necesidad de limpieza de piezas con los siguientes factores: •    Costo del tratamiento de efluentes químicos (eliminación). •    Costo de calentar el baño. •    Mejorar el tiempo del proceso (por ejemplo, "hacerlo rápido") Otro factor clave es la pregunta, *"¿qué tan limpio es lo suficientemente limpio?"*. Considere la tabla en la figura 5. Como revela la *figura 5*, muchas aplicaciones, pero no todas, requieren altos niveles de limpieza. Es importante comprender lo que sucede después del desengrase para asegurarse de que se está haciendo una elección adecuada.
